'Capital' and 'Wealth'!

What is/are the difference(s) between 'Capital' and 'Wealth'!?
Being wealthy and having capitals carry same value!

Thorsteinn Siglaugsson and Mijan Rahman like this

Thorsteinn Siglaugsson
No difference, really. Only the concepts are used in different ways. You would talk about the wealth of an individual, not his capital, while you would talk about a company's share capital, not its wealth.

Mohan Pai
There is difference between Capital and wealth. Capital is the seed money being invested in a business where as wealth is created out of that investment multiplied in the format of tangible as well as intangible assets. In areas other than business it is initial capital investment in equities/ real estate and the market price of investment revealing asset worth.

Mijan Rahman
Karl Castan
Read Marx. Whatever else you think of his politics, as an economist, he, along with Adam Smith, built the fundamental understanding as to how a capitalist economy worked.

Mijan Rahman
Thorsteinn Siglaugsson
Well, Marx's predictions for the future of capitalism were actually utterly wrong. On the other hand his materialist theory of history has proven itself to be very useful.

Mijan Rahman
Karl Castan
Thorsteinn ... I was not talking about his predictions. I was talking about his basic analysis.

Though I would not hold his mistakes against him as very few market commentators and gurus, bankers and rent boys get it right either.

So a little humility if you please :)

Mijan Rahman
Thorsteinn Siglaugsson
Sorry if I sounded arrogant - this may happen when you proclaim someone to be wrong. The point is Marx's predictions were based on his analysis and however bright he certainly was his basic theory of value creation (labor theory) was wrong. The value of goods is not determined by the labor that goes into producing them. Smith understood this.

Mijan Rahman
Mijan Rahman
The worst thing is I became confused about 'capital' and 'wealth' after reading Marx, Angel and Smith again and again! And I'm convinced that "We are not motivated by the knowledge of economics, we are guided by the conditioned faiths on economics!! For more pl see the discussion https://lnkd.in/bjtPuzA ) and "Our economists do not tell us how economics behaves rather they teach & preach us how we should behave with economics! For more pl see the discussion https://lnkd.in/eucNGvc )

ASSETS ............... that attract and hold the Soul of the Human beings, fascinated by manifestations

Mijan Rahman
Mijan Rahman
What's wrong if I say, "Capital creates Wealth"! If not wrong then 'Capital' is the performing part of 'Wealth' and the ultimate purpose of 'Capital' is growing 'Wealth'!!

Mijan Rahman
Karl Castan
Mijan ... people create wealth. They take capital and apply it to a purpose.

Mijan Rahman
Edward Simangunsong
its interesting...it is very obvious from the word of accounting perspective...but you trying to say wealth is a silent asset while capital is a producing assets...

What is more powerful? Knowledge or beliefs!

What is more powerful? Knowledge or beliefs!
What does history say!?

Believing in things without knowing about them is never wise. Knowledge is what makes you an individual who simply prefer not to follow the herd.

Beliefs.backed by knowledge.

Bert Robinson
Vivart, Agreed. Companies want people that possess Knowledge. They need people with experience and technical knowledge. Believes, is guesswork.

Abhijit Deb
Knowledge when practiced/implemented or proved again and again – gets added to one’s belief system. Example – “Cops don’t reach on time” is belief that came from knowing it – again and a g a i n.

Maria Melania Pop
Knowledge of course.

Salem Abusaif
Believes is the son of knowledge ,be aware of your knowledge to produce strong sons

Jihad Gafour
I believe and my beliefs are based on well known standards, I think and my thoughts are based on what I know, I know and my knowledge was influenced by XYZ.

Anjan Kumar Bhattacharjee
Beliefs any day ! Knowledge is for the few. Whereas Beliefs are passed on by heredity to the rest.

Dr. Sunil Deshpande
Undoubtedly Knowledge, because some belief may be vanished when they are tested on knowledge platform

Prayukth K V
Hi again Mijan, I would vote for knowledge because with knowledge your chances of going wrong are less.

Alexei Gartinski
The beliefs, of course! Including the extremely wide-spread belief that "knowledge is more powerful" ;-)

Arthur Bright
Knowledge bring confidence, belief has rooms for doubt... I'd go for Knowledge.

Dr Mahmood Sohail
Definitely beliefs are more powerful than knowledge

Zigmas Bigelis
Maybe beliefs are grounded on subconscious and intuition.. Knowledge on learning and experience.

Murali Menon
Very difficult to answer.
I remember reading TinTin "prisoners of the sun", where they use the knowledge of an impending eclipse to impress the Indians of their divinity and escape.
I don't know for sure if it was the knowledge or blind belief that set them free.
Both seem rather powerful in context.
Belief is just a different kind of "knowledge" because from the perspective of the believer it is just as true as knowledge

Cam T
It depends on your definition of power. For oneself, knowledge may be a very powerful tool as it can help you along the road to a good career or give you the tools to being a good parent in how you interact with your children.Belief, believe in yourself, that all things are possible. Knowledge is the relish on the hotdog.

Mijan Rahman
I think beliefs are more powerful and knowledge is more useful!

James Harrison
knowledge is power, power is the ability to use the knowledge.

T.T.Shagufta Hussein
It has been written that "In all the world there are only two kinds of people – those who know, and those who do not know; and this knowledge is the thing which matters." From knowledge we feel, understand and embrace belief.Good day to all. Sincere regards

Beliefs - psychology shows that your beliefs can alter or override your knowledge

Mijan Rahman
Shivas .
lack of knowledge leads to formation of beliefs. we all have inadequate information about 'God' - but we all don't have the same beliefs about God.
Increasing your knowledge about something will alter your beliefs about it. But your beliefs won't alter your knowledge.

Mijan Rahman
Dr Mahmood Sohail
The knowledge grow with beliefs. Without beliefs the knowledge growth stops

Mijan Rahman
Cam T
Shivas. Knowledge can also lead to a formation of beliefs. If one has knowledge and they are doing an experiment. The results will be produced to either formulate or verify a hypothesis. The end result then would be "I beleive the experiment was successful as it proved my original belief that A +B=C. However with technology & science new data emerges , thus our beliefs may change as we do further evaluations. Our knowledge too may change.I hope this makes sense.

Mijan Rahman
SUCHARIT CHAUDHURI
Knowledge is power.

Mijan Rahman
Cam T
Yes, Sucharit that quote was said by Francis Bacon hundreds of years ago. As a scientist, I think he may have meant that one makes an experiment, studies it, makes observations, tests or measures the results and comes to a conclusion or result.

This can be extended today in terms of marketing a new drug or really any product. If we measure and analyze a drug or product we hopefully will end up with something that will benefit mankind. How wonderful it would be if we have a cure for cancer? It would be truly powerful if one day soon this becomes a reality. Years of research & knowledge will yield results that would have a tremendous impact on society. Thus knowledge is power.

Mijan Rahman
Maria Melania Pop
We already have the cure for cancer, it's just not marketed yet, for profit reasons.

I should probably not have written this here.

Mijan Rahman
Cam T
Maria, has it been approved by the FDA and what type of cancer are you referring to. Thanks

Mijan Rahman
Maria Melania Pop
It probably wasn't approved by the FDA, not because of its lack of efficiency, toxicity or secondary effects (all of which are characteristics of the drugs used to cure cancer at present), but due to fear of bankruptcy.

Mijan Rahman
Cam T
Maria, hi. Hope you are well.

Have they been cleared yet by the FDA for any phases of the clinical trials? If this drug really has the potential you have been told it has, it must be approved by the FDA for all stages.
If it has been cleared in Phase 1 or 2 for example, other companies will be aware and will be watching closely as companies put out press releases on their company web site regarding their pipeline and progress. Word gets out quickly, so if this drug has the potential to cure cancer, someone like Merck, Bristol may want a partnership, or will give milestone payments. There are many financial options available. For your own protection do not disclose the name of the company.

The Strongest and the Weakest Currency of History!

'Love’ is the Strongest currency in the world of all time that has strong global acceptance and always maintains a stable exchange rate with happiness, which can purchase almost anything!
‘Trust’ is the Weakest currency that has very little and local acceptance only, which always maintains a floating exchange rate that is used for retail transactions only!

Thank for sharing this.

After producing the product or the service while insuring its quality and its respect to the different norms and standards, and in order to attain or to go beyond the sales objectives, the entrepreneur/manager has to love the product s/he produces, and the services s/he offers and if this love is topped with Trust built through reputation, education, etc . . . There should be no reason why not to succeed in any market.

Back to your post, I inform you that:

The love market has being invaded by fake love bank notes and also by hate banks notes, which reduces the demand for love (a matter of credibility). It is therefore difficult to have love as the strongest currency.

No official records about international trade of love. A few international transactions of love have been observed since the human being started to cross continents.

Trust; Even if it is considered to be a weak currency, it has the potential to improve through recognition processes (Experience, Certification, standardization . . .).

I admire this post however I don't believe love is a currency. A currency is a means of exchanging one thing for another. Love however is one sided - to love in its noblest form is to give without expecting anything in return. Love requires no validation as giving it freely bears no burden or vulnerability upon the giver. Trust, on the contrary, is an exchange which can only be validated by extending it to someone and finding out the hard way if you made a mistake. With regards to happiness - love is related but you must first learn to love yourself.

There are always 2 sides of the coin, depends on how you want to perceive things. To me, these inventions revolutionized human existence, made our life simpler and paced up our civilization. Its difficult to see how they enslaved or imprisoned us.

Mijan Rahman
Charles Helliwell
Discovery is the finding of something previously unseen, unheard or un-thought of. Invention is the creation of something new, unseen, unheard of and un-thought of. So if we invented money to enslave us and the semiconductor to imprison us, it only remains to discover what will eventually free us.

Thanks for your enlightening contribution! There is a clarification. I think we invented money to solve a problem and semiconductor as a productivity tool then we discovered them politically that enslaved the civilization and imprisoned the life respectively. I strongly believe, our money and semiconductor could solve all the sufferings of humanity and we could see a happy planet earth. Money and semiconductor jointly play the role of God who uses more power against humanity than welfare! Now we need to rediscover them as new God to free us! Social capital is on the way to rediscover money.

I think if one has money they are intelligent for making it and I don't believe the semiconductor is the most powerful discovery by a human being. Granted many of us use computers but I like to think that we have discovered so many drugs and medical devices that have saved lives and had a tremendous impact on living more active life styles.Look how great so many wounded vets are able to do thing now that they could not do before because of these revolutionary ideas.Saving and curing thousand of children from disease in Africa and other countries. Being humane is so important.People are the most intelligent and the most powerful discovery is our brains and how we use them to change ,influence &r help mankind not just with medical devices or drugs but with compassion and example.
